The Danish Defence is one Denmark’s most complex public institutions and solves problems in Denmark, The Danish Commonwealth as well as on international missions. The business’s tasks and competencies cover a wide field, and it is essential, that all institutions have the necessary equipment and materials at their disposal for the respective tasks. This applies to a wide range of things such as office supplies, tools and armour for vehicles, planes and ships, as well as spare parts for them. Therefore, it was necessary to have a complete overview of the supply chain and also optimize the processes and material flow within it. So, The Danish Defence commenced a program, that should ensure this across the five agencies within The Danish Ministry of Defence’s concern.
Peak’s consultants helped establish the entire structure for management within the program, implemented management methods and processes, as well as managed the continuous maintenance and tailoring of governance within the program. The most essential tasks were to advise and assist the program manager in managing the programs office, facilitating the collaboration with the change agents (representatives from five agencies) as well as accomplishing concrete operation- and management tasks. This was done by following best practice based on PRINCE2® and MSP®, adjusted to the situation and reality of The Danish Defence. This means, that Peak included the theory, but scaled and tailored it to the reality.
Over a period of 5 years the program managed to optimize delivery times on equipment, implement a range of system support and involve a large number of employees in the application of the new solutions. The program’s governance has inspired a range of other programs, which are also established within The Danish Defence.
